First and foremost, TwilightShirts.com is not in any way affiliated with Stephenie Meyer, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, Hachette Book Group USA or Summit Entertainment. We are just a fansite that makes shirts that we think other fans would wear. None of the products here should be considered "official" merchandise.
Twilight Shirts opened in July of 2008 and is run by 3 cool people and 1 awesome dog. All shirt designs are conceived and executed by me (Dana), my husband (Chris), and our good friend (Ryan). We are all fans of the Twilight series and enjoy bringing our designs into the lives of the equally fanatical.
All of our shirts are printed on high quality, ringspun cotton shirts made by American Apparel, the most comfortable, durable, and fashionable tees around.
I was turned onto the Twilight series about a year ago by a close friend and mutually avid Harry Potter
fan. I had been in a sort of literary depression since finishing The Deathly Hallows and coming to the realization that the fascinating saga and wonderful world I had been obsessed with for years had finally ended. Of course, the last three HP movies were still on the horizon and could potentially provide another few years worth of delight; however, nothing could truly match the anticipation of waiting for the next book in the series to be released, being the first in line to reserve two copies (that’s right, two) months in advance, and anxiously pacing outside of Borders with the rest of the expectant mob waiting for the doors to open on the first day of book sales. It was history in the making, and now it was over.
Imagine my surprise on the day my friend mentioned to me a new series that had captivated her interest like nothing else since HP. My curiosity was peaked. I walked into Borders with a faint hope, meekly asking the sales associate behind the counter if he could direct me toward the Twilight series. As I approached the Young Adult section, I saw the simple, unassuming covers of the three books already released. Uncertain, I read the inside summary panel of Twilight, raised an eyebrow, and walked straight to the check out counter.
I became immediately engrossed in the tense and dramatic relationship between Bella and Edward and finished reading Twilight within a week. Some of the old excitement I had experienced with HP was back, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next book. Thus, a Twilight fan was born.
As I became increasingly interested and involved in the Twilight fan world by familiarizing myself with various fan sites, reading blog commentary, and nearly stalking the official movie site, I started developing the desire to contribute and join in the efforts of my fellow Twilightians (New Moonies, Eclipsians, and Bedwards would also be appropriate here). And what better way to contribute than to clothe said Bedwards with some stylin tees themed by the very books we love so much!
Knowing zilch about creating or running a website (not to mention one that actually sells a product), I enlisted the services of my husband, who just happens to be a talented web designer (what are the odds!?). I also recruited a friend with some strong marketing skills to put the word out and help develop a customer base. After a few months of research, design, and word of mouth…voila! Twilight shirts is at your service. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
In my spare time (when I’m not reading Twilight, blogging on the latest book and movie news, and scouting the web for new shirt ideas, that is), I enjoy playing with my pup, Gizmo. That’s him there on the left. I also love hanging out in the city with my husband and our friends and family; adoring my precious little nephew, Jacob (oh yes, his name is Jacob); going to the movies; baking for others; and the old cliché, shopping.
