Laughing All the Way to the Bank

Uncategorized January 23rd, 2013

The Twilight Movie series has been regarded as the most insipid, self-indulgent and egregiously terrible film series around. They’ve made their rounds through theatres and Direct tv cable movie channels have kept the films in circulation. They are obviously popular enough, but why are they so polarizing?

Part of it has to do with the nature of the stories and another part has to do with all the crazy controversy going on behind the scenes. It’s a fact that the lead actors and actresses of this series do not care for the films.

Robert Pattinson has made numerous remarks utterly destroying the films he stars in citing issues with the overall plot and the character portrayals. Even Kristen Stewart, who has all the acting range of a dead fish, has gone on to criticize the films polarizing fans greatly.

Then you have the overall essence of the novels. In short, they are hollow and uninspired love stories. They are cheap thrills and intrigue, but that’s what people tend to like. The films are mindless but that’s kind of the point.

Twilight isn’t the Star Wars or even the Lord of the Rings of our time, but if you want a fun little ride that lets you shut your brain off, this is where it’s at. It’s escape, however shoddy, in its purest form. And as far as the inherent ridiculousness of it all, well, say what you want but they’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.
